Third-Party Software & Media Notices

FFmpeg
The Windows app ships FFmpeg and FFprobe (ffmpeg.exe, ffprobe.exe) as separate programs next to the app; Vidchestra runs them as separate processes and does not link to FFmpeg libraries. The bundled build is the BtbN FFmpeg-Builds LGPL build ffmpeg-n8.1.3-24-g92611900bb-win64-lgpl-8.1 (SHA-256 of the archive: 4b999c5b938ee20dc1bd7be68cb09381ac425520e363a58b67e787402cb96022). It is configured without GPL-only or non-free components and is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3 or later. The licence notices of FFmpeg and the libraries included in that build are in FFMPEG-LICENSE.txt in the installation folder, and further details are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md there.
Corresponding source: FFmpeg source code at commit 92611900bb (release 8.1 branch) from the FFmpeg project, built with the scripts at github.com/BtbN/FFmpeg-Builds. Boostlete LLC will also provide a copy of the corresponding source on request (support@vidchestra.com) for at least three years after we last distribute that version. You may replace the bundled executables with your own compatible build: the app uses whichever ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe are next to it. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard.
Video and audio formats
On Windows, the app encodes H.264 video with the Windows Media Foundation encoder, or with your graphics hardware's encoder if you select it; the bundled FFmpeg's OpenH264 encoder is used only if Media Foundation is unavailable. AAC audio is encoded with FFmpeg's built-in LGPL encoder. Web Studio uses your browser's built-in encoders. Some uses of H.264/AAC may be subject to third-party patent licences; Vidchestra does not grant patent licences.
Open-source components
The desktop app and website are built with open-source software, including Tauri, React, Next.js and many Rust crates and npm packages, each under its own licence. The tables below summarise every third-party component we ship: Rust crates used by the desktop app (all target platforms) and the production npm dependencies of the desktop app and website. Build and test tools are not included. The full list with versions, licences and source locations is in third-party-licenses.txt; it is generated from the lock files by scripts/legal/gen-third-party.mjs and updated with each release.

Where a package offers a choice of licences (“A OR B”), we use it under any one of them. The LGPL-licensed npm package (@img/sharp-libvips, used by Next.js for image processing) runs only on our servers and is not distributed to you.
Microsoft Edge WebView2
The app's interface runs in Microsoft Edge WebView2. The WebView2 Runtime is part of current Windows versions; where it is missing, the installer downloads and installs it from Microsoft. It is provided by Microsoft under Microsoft's own licence terms.
Fonts
The Windows app bundles the DejaVu Sans and DejaVu Sans Bold fonts, under the Bitstream Vera Fonts licence with DejaVu's changes released to the public domain; the licence text is in fonts/DejaVu-LICENSE.txt in the installation folder. The website uses your device's system fonts.
Demo media on this website
The before/after examples on this website were produced with Vidchestra's own engine from four photos released into the public domain under CC0 1.0 and published on Wikimedia Commons:
- Cappuccino by www.Pixel.la Free Stock Photos
- Espresso machine by Chevanon Photography
- Battenberg cake with tea by MyWikiAccount5000
- House exterior by Blervis
The music in the demo videos was synthesised by the engine, and the demo documents, logos and brands (such as “Northwind Coffee” and “Harbor Realty”) were created by us; the brands are fictional. Screenshots show the Vidchestra Windows app.
Music, soundtracks and your media
Vidchestra does not include a music library and does not license music or other media to you. When you add music, narration, images, video clips, fonts or logos, you are responsible for having a licence that covers your use — including commercial use and publishing on each social network. Social platforms may mute or remove videos whose soundtrack is not licensed for that platform.
